Our client is seeking an experienced WHS and Workers Compensation Lawyer to support a high profile and dynamic government organisation.

$960 to $1330 daily rate including super Canberra/Virtual

WHS and Workers Compensation Lawyer – $960 to $1330 daily rate including super – 11 month contract

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced WHS and Workers Compensation Lawyer to support a high profile and dynamic government organisation. The successful candidate will need to have extensive experience advising on WHS law and workers compensation matters.

The Duties

The successful candidate will work as a secondee within the organisation’s in-house legal team – either onsite in Canberra or virtually. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills are required as the successful candidate will be providing advice and assistance to a wide range of client areas.

The duties for the role include:

  • advising on whether a health & safety incident is notifiable under the Work Health & Safety Act 2011 (Cth);
  • supporting Health and Safety Executive (HSE) investigations including responding to statutory notices for information and documents;
  • responding to workers’ compensation claims and s 71 notices under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (Cth); and
  • advising on the application of the Public Services Act 1999 (Cth) and other Commonwealth government regulations and directions.

The Requirements

A current practising certificate and a minimum of 6 years PQE. Experience advising on Commonwealth WHS and Workers Compensation law and the Public Service Act 1999 (Cth) is essential.

Our client is seeking an engaging and experienced Paralegal to join a litigation team that supports a high profile Commonwealth Department.

The Role

The position will require the Paralegal to assist with supporting the litigation team with preparing a variety of court documents. 

The successful applicant will ideally have legal qualifications or be in the advanced stages of completing tertiary qualifications in law or a related discipline.

The role will require the Paralegal to:

  • have extensive experience with and knowledge of court documents such as subpoenas, affidavits, applications and notices;
  • be timely, reliable and work under pressure; and
  • ensure effective communication with team members and internal stakeholders.

The Requirements

Previous experience working within a litigation environment ideally in a federal government department would be highly regarded. Strong communication and IT Systems skills are essential.

This is a security assessed position. Applicants must be an Australian citizen, with the successful candidate holding a current Baseline Government security clearance and be willing to undergo additional employment suitability checks.

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Employment Lawyer to support a significant Commonwealth Agency. The successful candidate will need to have skills and experience advising on Commonwealth employment law.

The Duties

The successful candidate will be required to work as a secondee within the Commonwealth client’s in-house corporate and commercial team.  High level stakeholder engagement skills are required as the successful candidate will be required to provide advice and assistance to a wide range of client areas.

The duties for the role include:

  • providing employment law advice;
  • advising on the engagement of employees;
  • advising on the termination and performance management of employees;
  • providing advice on anti-discrimination and unfair dismissal;
  • advising on industrial action, enterprise agreement interpretation, approval and bargaining; and
  • advising on the application of the Public Services Act 1999 (Cth) and other Commonwealth government regulations and directions.

The Requirements

A current practising certificate and a minimum of 5 years PQE. Experience advising on Commonwealth employment law and the Public Service Act 1999 (Cth) would be highly desirable.

A government law generalist would be well suited to this role, possessing knowledge and experience in:

Our client, a law firm based in Canberra, is seeking an experienced Commercial Advisor to provide support to a high profile Government project leading from Gate 1 to Gate 2.

$833 to $972 daily rate inc super Canberra

Commercial Advisor – $833 to $972 daily rate inc super – NV 1 Clearance Essential – Initial 4 month contract with possible extension options

The Role

Our client, a law firm based in Canberra, is seeking an experienced Commercial Advisor to provide support to a high profile Government project leading from Gate 1 to Gate 2.  The Commercial Advisor will also support the development of project commercial documentation including applicable Request for Tender (RFT) documentation as well as any subsequent tender evaluation.

The Duties

The key responsibilities will include:

  • developing procurement-related documentation including appropriate procurement templates, schedules, correspondence, reports, submissions, plans and strategies, risk analysis, and other contract management documentation;
  • conducting market research, industry engagement activity and approaches to market;
  • conducting and advising on procurement processes, including leading complex tender evaluation activities and processes;
  • advising on management of existing contracts, including drafting and reviewing contract correspondence;
  • ensuring procurement and contract management processes are compliant with legislation and departmental procurement policy;
  • managing stakeholder input to procurement activity and contract management; and
  • accurately completing work within agreed schedules and quality requirements.

The Requirements

Knowledge and experience in developing CASG pre-Gate 2 documentation is highly desirable.

Legal qualifications and experience are desirable as well as 1 to 5 years’ Commonwealth Government commercial legal experience. Experience working on large, high profile Defence projects would be highly regarded. 

A current Negative Vetting 1 security clearance is essential.
