Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Officer (Legislation) to support a high profile Commonwealth Agency in Canberra.

$840 to $1190 daily rate inclusive of super Canberra

Senior Legal Officer – $840 to $1190 daily rate inclusive of super – initial contract until 24 December 2021 – Canberra – Baseline Clearance

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Officer (Legislation) to support a high profile Commonwealth Agency in Canberra.

The successful candidate will be required to work as a secondee within the Commonwealth clients’ in-house legal team. High level stakeholder engagement skills are required as the successful candidate will be required to provide advice and assistance to a wide range of client areas.

The Responsibilities

The successful candidate will possess knowledge and experience in:
• legislation development;
• complex legislative projects;
• administrative law; and
• statutory interpretation.

The Requirements

A current practising certificate and previous experience advising on Commonwealth administrative law and statutory interpretation matters are essential. A minimum 3 years PQE is required.

The successful candidate must be able to and willing to complete any required security checks.

A current Baseline Security Clearance would be highly desirable.

Our client is seeking experienced lawyers with 3 to 5 years experience to assist a high profile litigation team in a secondment position with a federal government department.

$720 to $1050 daily rate Canberra

Lawyer (Litigation) – 3 to 5 years – Baseline Clearance – $720 to $1050 daily rate – 6 month initial contract – Canberra

The Role

Our client is seeking experienced lawyers with 3 to 5 years experience to assist a high profile litigation team in a secondment position with a federal government department.

The Responsibilities

The role will require the successful candidates to assist with various tasks across a wide variety of work areas. This will include (but is not limited to):
• discovery
• evidence and trial preparation
• mediation preparation
• ministerial taskings
• ad hoc advice and support to branch
• working closely with senior stakeholders in the dispute resolution team as well as senior and junior lawyers to respond to other litigated and non-litigated claims and legal policy matters

Please note there may be some travel involved in support of the branch’s activities.

The Requirements

Legal qualifications, a current practising certificate and a current Baseline security clearance are essential.

Previous experience working in a federal government litigation team would be highly regarded.

Senior Commercial Adviser (Level 4)

Our client is seeking an experienced senior commercial adviser to provide specialist commercial advice and support to the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Task Force at the Department of Defence.

$1081 to $1223 daily rate inc super Canberra

Senior Commercial Adviser (Level 4) – $1081 to $1223 daily rate inc super – NV1 Clearance essential – 12 months contract (with 6 months option), commencing late October 2021 – Canberra preferred

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced senior commercial adviser to provide specialist commercial advice and support to the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Task Force at the Department of Defence. Our client has not secured the contract for this role and the successful applicant will therefore have to be approved by Defence.

The commercial adviser will be required to demonstrate practical skills and experience in complex commercial transactions and in supporting joint programs within a Defence environment. The commercial adviser will have experience in developing and implementing governance frameworks, establishing processes for risk management, extensive stakeholder management and liaison, project delivery and commercial negotiations.

This position has been classified as a Level 4 position under the Defence Support Services panel.

The Responsibilities

The key responsibilities will include:

• supporting joint programs in complex commercial transactions;
• working flexibly and collaboratively with the Commonwealth and other service providers contracted to the Commonwealth in the performance of the services;
• possibly managing and/or leading a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, delegating responsibility and mentoring and contributing to the development of other team members;
• possibly advising and supporting senior management and project managers on a broad range of complex and diverse issues associated with the planning, management and delivery of a nuclear powered submarine program.

It is expected that the commercial adviser’s activities and deliverables may, by their nature, further develop in line with the Task Force’s priorities and focus points. The commercial adviser must take reasonable direction from Commonwealth personnel during the delivery of services.

The Requirements

Experience working on large, high-profile Commonwealth Defence commercial projects is essential.
Higher degree qualifications or relevant industry experience of more than 8 years with at least higher education sector accreditation at minimum advanced diploma level are desirable.
A current NV1 (with a willingness to progress to NV2) security clearance at a minimum is essential and a higher security clearance would be highly regarded.

$900 to $1079 daily rate inc super Canberra

Commercial Adviser – $900 to $1079 daily rate inc super – NV1 Clearance essential – 12 month contract, commencing ASAP – Canberra Location

The Role

Our client, is seeking an experienced commercial adviser to develop and lead the commercial strategy for a Commonwealth Department’s high-profile project.  The commercial adviser will engage with the project team to identify, anticipate and respond to needs and expectations to achieve capability development, acquisition and sustainment outcomes. The commercial adviser will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex to very complex contract management work within an integrated workplace. 

The Duties

The key responsibilities will include:

  • the provision of procurement planning, tendering and contract management activities, ensuring compliance with legislation, procurement policies, processes and procedures;
  • managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes;
  • providing advice, direction, and assistance to the integrated project manager to support contract management and commercial strategy outcomes;
  • supporting the integrated project manager in all contract negotiations, preparation of Contract Change Proposals, and contract performance/compliance measurement and management;
  • engaging and negotiating with clients and stakeholders and responding to issues, taking the initiative to identify alternate action where necessary; and
  • building and sustaining relationships with stakeholders including industry representatives.

The Requirements

Experience working on large, high-profile Defence projects would be highly regarded.
